據(jù)說(shuō)，在英語(yǔ)流行開(kāi)來(lái)的時(shí)候，許多歐洲人紛紛開(kāi)始學(xué)習(xí)。目的很明確：讀英語(yǔ)小說(shuō)原文。一方面，這是一種審美的需求，另一方面，這也是社會(huì)階層的劃分依據(jù)：從此，身邊的人分為兩種，即能讀英語(yǔ)小說(shuō)原著的，和不能用英語(yǔ)閱讀小說(shuō)的人。在這樣的目的驅(qū)使下，可想而知學(xué)習(xí)效率會(huì)如何之高。
最近在學(xué)習(xí)英國(guó)文學(xué)史，下載了海量的英美小說(shuō)和詩(shī)歌�？梢赃@么說(shuō)，不讀小說(shuō)，不知英文的精妙，不讀詩(shī)歌，不知英文的優(yōu)雅與靚麗。

現(xiàn)在回想起來(lái)，簡(jiǎn)單的動(dòng)機(jī)，為我打下了堅(jiān)實(shí)的英語(yǔ)基礎(chǔ)。當(dāng)時(shí)，最開(kāi)心的事情，就是每周的英語(yǔ)考試，可以讀到新鮮熱辣的時(shí)文。
不過(guò)，與那些英語(yǔ)原版世界名著相比，英語(yǔ)說(shuō)明文就顯得黯然失色了。當(dāng)然，那些來(lái)自于《時(shí)代》周刊的英文消息，是很值得玩味的。至今記得那篇略顯晦澀的對(duì)喬伊斯《尤利西斯》的報(bào)道。

Gao Kao is a Chinese version of college entrance examination. Once it was probably the most important event in Chinese students' life, and it is still to some students. It is optional whether to attend this exams or not, so the choice lies in each student. Now more and more students start to take this choice seriously, and disreputes arose. As for me, attending Gao Kao is a better choice.
Firstly, college education is a necessity for each student, and one can only get enrolled in a college in China with a score of Gao Kao. Secondly, preparing Gao Kao is a very valuable experience to help us grow, exactly for the reason that it is not a little trying and harsh. Lastly, unless better opportunity arise, applying for native colleges is the best choice for us to embrace a propectful future, which makes attending Gao Kao a necessity for each of us who choose to receive education home in China.
All in all, it depends whether attending Gao Kao is the best choice, but for me and other who haven't plan to receive overseas education, there is no doubt that it is a necessity and an opportunity to make our way in the society.

On Christmas Eve, my parents took me and my sister to the supermarket.
